Counselling and psychotherapy in North & West Wiltshire, Bath, Bradford on Avon and North Somerset
My fees are £75.00, per session, this fee is dependant on income, I do have one space usually available for those on limited resources, each session lasts for 50 minutes. Couple fees can be negotiated.
I see children, young people over the age of 17, both men and women, young and old, married and single, of all races, cultures, religions and sexual orientations.
I have worked, lived or visited all parts of the world which provides me with that important human insight, recognising and working with difference.
I've been a practising therapist for over 30 years. I trained and qualified as a psychodynamic therapist with the Westminster Pastoral Foundation in 1994. Subsequently my training and experience has included issues such as loss, bereavement, depression, relationships, stress and anxiety management, mediation, couple counselling, alcohol, substance misuse, other addictions, emotional and sexual abuse, workplace harassment and management support.
Over the past 25 years I have worked regularly on all aspects of employee assistance programmes (EAP).
Although my core training is the psychodynamic model I am also familiar with cognitive behavioural therapy and various humanistic approaches which allow me to tailor the therapeutic process to your specific issues and needs.
Yes, confidentiality is of the utmost importance. As an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I am bound by the ethical and legal exceptions included in the BACP Code of Ethics.
These exceptions usually have to do with putting others in danger and in which case it may be necessary to seek outside help. No action would be taken by me without first discussing it with you. It is very rare that any issue is ever taken outside the confidentiality of the consulting room.
I see people usually once a week although this can be more frequent dependant on the issues presented.
It varies. Some people find a few sessions helpful to deal with specific issues. Others recognise that some of their repetitive problems and triggers, issues and feelings are rooted in their early life and family of origin where longer term work can allow for deeper and more complex issues to surface and be explored. This psychotherapy or open ended therapeutic approach you may find helpful in developing an increased level of awareness and self confidence which can in turn lead to personal development and healthier relationships.
